Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY

This is a high-level, hands-on position requiring both engineering design and operational duties.

Candidates must be eligible to be hired directly without sponsorship and have either a Green Card / EAD / US Citizenship.

The Senior Storage Systems Engineer is responsible for the design and ongoing operational support of infrastructure technologies for EMC storage subsystems and Cisco SAN subsystems. Responsibilities include defining and implementing storage subsystem configurations, performing needs assessments, and recommendations of solutions. Includes all aspects of storage provisioning, system monitoring, system administration, performance tuning, system controls, and documentation. May install, configure, upgrade and troubleshoot any issues relating to storage infrastructure technologies. Experience with one or more EMC storage subsystems (EMC VMAX, EMC DMX-4, EMC DMX-3) is required. Experience with EMC Clarion, EMC Celerra and Cisco SAN's is preferred.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides technical design and support for designated infrastructure technologies.

2. Acts as liaison to IT and business to gather requirements for technology solutions.

3. Recommends, develops, and tests new technology and develops solutions, documentation for infrastructure or network projects.

4. Works closely with the business and IT to develop cost effective, operationally supportable solutions that meet complex requirements.

5. Responsible for direct customer communication, working closely with all other technical teams and maintain deep technical knowledge of multiple technologies.

6. Assists in developing project cost and benefit estimates to establish project worth; including alternative considerations leading to recommendations for new systems or equipment installations, or change to existing ones.

7. Assists in recommending, developing, and testing new technologies and solutions, and providing documentation for infrastructure projects.

8. Build and maintain relationships with key vendors, on development, enhancements and upgrades. Manages these vendors in troubleshooting situations.

9. Negotiates pricing, terms and conditions and technical requirements with vendors.

10. Assess complex technical problems to develop, appraise and recommend solutions.

11. Recommends hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.

12. Evaluate new technologies to solve business requirements.

13. Demonstrates a commitment to our client's core values of integrity, company and customer first, teamwork, focus and discipline and sense of urgency.

15. Responsible for 24 x 7 support for designated infrastructure technology area.


REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate is proficient at researching, planning and implementing infrastructure hardware and/or software technologies.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent 4 years experience.

- Proficient in one or more EMC storage systems.

- Strong written & verbal communications skills.

- Demonstrated problem solving and communication skills while developing collaborative relationships.

- Be able to present ideas and technical solutions effectively through presentation and communication to senior management.
- Sound business fundamentals experience. Provides timely and informative follow-up to users.
