Job Title: Teller/Member Services Representative

BCM Federal Credit Union Teller
FTE position at max $40k with benefits
Location: Houston, Texas

As in all positions with BCM Federal Credit Union, the primary duty of the Teller/Member Service Representative is to ensure that members receive the most courteous, prompt and helpful service possible. It is the duty of all employees to assist the President by performing any function necessary to guarantee the smooth functioning of the credit union.

  • File all documents to the member loan files including insurance policies, loan documents, past due notices, etc. and file loan files to file drawers.
  • Retrieve messages that have accumulated on the main telephone voice mail and distribute or answer them as appropriate.
  • Process withdrawals.
  • Accept and post member deposits and loan payments.
  • Open new accounts.
  • Prepare MasterCard cash advances.
  • Open and distribute mail and post incoming loan payments and investment income received via the mail.
  • Keep the lobby and sponsor literature racks stocked with brochures, loan applications, MasterCard applications, etc.
  • Balance cash drawer daily and assume responsibility for assigned cash.
  • Prepare own daily deposit. Prepare and deliver all deposits for transport to the bank each morning.
  • File daily work and membership cards.
  • Process return mail and change of address notices.
  • Back up the loan department as needed by running credit reports, pulling loan files, checking documentation for completeness and accuracy, communicating loan decisions and/or the need for additional application information to members, etc.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the President or Vice President to ensure the efficient functioning of the credit union.
  • Sell travelers checks, gift checks and money orders.
  • Cross-sell and promote credit union services.

  • Knowledge of Credit Union Products: Credit unions may offer unique financial products and services, such as member savings accounts, low-interest loans, and specialized savings programs. Tellers need to be well-versed in these offerings.
  • Community Engagement: Credit unions often emphasize community involvement and support. Tellers may be involved in community outreach activities or initiatives, requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Cross-Selling Skills: While cross-selling is common in both banks and credit unions, tellers at credit unions may place more emphasis on promoting the credit union's products and services, including financial counseling and educational resources.
  • Emphasis on Financial Education: Credit unions often prioritize financial literacy and education for their members. Tellers may be expected to assist members in understanding financial concepts and resources.

Job Title: Accountant

Job Responsibilities: Examine financial statements to ensure that they are accurate and comply with laws and regulations. Manage cash flow by forecasting and analyzing financial data. Perform all accounting function such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, monthly statement preparation, and reconciliation. Prepare detailed reports on audit filings. Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures to records transactions. Examine and evaluate financial and information systems, recommending control to ensure system reliability and date integrity. Develop, maintain, or analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs. Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedure standards.

Job Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Foreign equivalent plus two years of relevant experience in accounting using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks.
